APPLICATION DESCRIPTION
Flashcard Decks is an educational mobile application designed to help users create, organize, and study flashcards. The App provides a comprehensive learning experience through customizable flashcard decks, study sessions, and various quiz formats including multiple-choice questions, article-based learning, and spaced repetition techniques.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Local Data Storage
Flashcard Decks is designed with your privacy as a priority. The App operates primarily using local data storage on your Device. This means that the content you create, including your flashcard decks, cards, study progress, and personal settings, is stored directly on your Device and is not transmitted to our servers or any external databases.
The following types of data are stored locally on your Device: your flashcard decks and their associated content including questions and answers, your study progress and performance statistics, your app preferences and customization settings, and your notification preferences and schedules.
Automatically Collected Information
When you use the App, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party services integrated into the App, specifically for the purpose of displaying advertisements. This information may include your Device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address, unique device identifiers, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile operating system, and information about how you interact with advertisements displayed within the App.
INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
We want to be transparent about the information we do not collect. Flashcard Decks does not collect or require: your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable contact information; account registration or login credentials; location data or GPS information; access to your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone; payment information or financial data; health, biometric, or genetic information; browsing history or data from other applications; or social media account information or authentication.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
Information stored locally on your Device is used solely to provide and maintain the Service, specifically to enable you to create and study flashcards, to track your learning progress and study statistics, to deliver scheduled study reminders and notifications, and to remember your preferences and customization choices.
Information collected by third-party advertising services is used to display advertisements within the App and to provide analytics that help us understand how users interact with advertisements.
ADVERTISING
Google AdMob Integration
The App uses Google AdMob, a mobile advertising platform provided by Google LLC, to display advertisements. AdMob enables us to offer the App free of charge while generating revenue through advertising. The AdMob App ID used in this application is ca-app-pub-6219430006292608~8000063188.
Types of Advertisements
The App displays three types of advertisements. First, Banner Advertisements are small, rectangular advertisements that appear at designated areas within the App interface and do not interrupt your study sessions. Second, Interstitial Advertisements are full-screen advertisements that appear at natural transition points within the App, such as when completing a study session or navigating between sections. Third, Rewarded Advertisements are optional, full-screen video advertisements that you may choose to watch in exchange for rewards within the App, such as a 48-hour ad-free experience.
Advertising Data Collection
Google AdMob may collect certain information from your Device for the purpose of serving advertisements and measuring their effectiveness. This information may include your Device’s advertising identifier (such as the Android Advertising ID), your IP address, device information such as model and operating system version, your interaction with advertisements including views and clicks, and general location information based on IP address for the purpose of serving geographically relevant advertisements.
For more information about how Google collects and processes data through AdMob, please review Google’s Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and the Google Advertising Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Ad-Free Experience
Users have the option to enjoy a 48-hour ad-free experience by watching a rewarded advertisement. This feature is entirely optional and does not require any payment or personal information.
DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
Local Storage Architecture
All user-generated content, including flashcard decks, study progress, and personal preferences, is stored locally on your Device using secure local storage mechanisms provided by the operating system. This data remains on your Device and is not transmitted to external servers.
Data Security Measures
We implement appropriate technical measures to protect the information stored locally on your Device. However, please be aware that no method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
Your Responsibility
Because your data is stored locally on your Device, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your Device, including keeping your Device’s operating system and the App updated to the latest versions, using appropriate security measures such as screen locks and device encryption, and backing up your Device regularly to prevent data loss.
DATA RETENTION
Retention of Local Data
Data stored locally on your Device will remain there until you uninstall the App, clear the App’s data through your Device settings, manually delete specific content within the App, or reset your Device to factory settings.
Retention by Third-Party Services
Information collected by Google AdMob is subject to Google’s data retention policies. We recommend reviewing Google’s Privacy Policy to understand how long they retain data collected through their advertising services.
YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Control Over Your Data
Because your data is stored locally on your Device, you have complete control over it. You may access, modify, or delete any content you have created within the App at any time. You may export your data by using the backup and export features available within the App. You may delete all App data by uninstalling the App or clearing its data through your Device settings.
Advertising Choices
You have several choices regarding advertisements displayed in the App. You may opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your Device’s advertising settings. On Android devices, you can do this by navigating to Settings, then Privacy, then Ads, and enabling “Opt out of Ads Personalization.” You may also watch rewarded advertisements to enjoy a 48-hour ad-free experience.
Notification Preferences
You may manage your notification preferences within the App settings. You can enable or disable study reminders and adjust the timing and frequency of notifications according to your preferences.
DEVICE PERMISSIONS
The App requires certain permissions to function properly. Below is an explanation of each permission and why it is needed.
Internet Access Permission
The App requires access to the Internet (INTERNET permission) to load and display advertisements through Google AdMob. This permission is essential for the App’s advertising functionality, which enables us to offer the App free of charge.
Network State Permission
The App requires the ability to check network connectivity status (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permission) to determine whether an Internet connection is available before attempting to load advertisements. This ensures the App functions smoothly even when offline.
Notification Permission
The App may request permission to send notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission) to deliver study reminders and help you maintain consistent study habits. This permission is optional, and you may deny it without affecting the core functionality of the App.
Boot Completed Permission
The App may request permission to receive notification when your Device has finished booting (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED permission) to reschedule any study reminders that were set before the Device was restarted. This ensures your notification schedule persists across Device restarts.
Exact Alarm Permission
The App may request permission to set exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM permission) to deliver study reminders at the precise times you have configured. This permission ensures that your reminders arrive exactly when expected.
CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Age Restrictions
The Flashcard Decks application is designed as an educational tool suitable for users of all ages. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).
Compliance with Children’s Privacy Laws
Because the App does not collect personal information and stores all data locally on the user’s Device, it is designed to be compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and similar children’s privacy laws in other jurisdictions.
Parental Guidance
We encourage parents and guardians to monitor their children’s use of mobile applications and to review the privacy settings on their children’s Devices. If you believe that a child has somehow provided personal information to us, please contact us at support@qylit.com, and we will take steps to delete such information.
INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Local Data
Because user-generated content is stored locally on your Device, there is no transfer of such data across international borders by us.
Advertising Data
Information collected by Google AdMob may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States. Google has implemented various mechanisms to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws when transferring data internationally. For more information, please review Google’s Privacy Policy.
COMPLIANCE WITH PRIVACY LAWS
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process information in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation. The legal basis for processing information through advertising is our legitimate interest in providing the App free of charge. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your data, as well as the right to object to processing. Because user-generated data is stored locally on your Device, you can exercise these rights directly within the App or through your Device settings.
California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
For California residents, the California Consumer Privacy Act provides certain rights regarding personal information. Because we do not sell personal information and user-generated data is stored locally on your Device, most CCPA provisions regarding our practices do not apply. However, you have the right to know what information is collected and how it is used, the right to delete your data (which you can do by uninstalling the App), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
Other Privacy Laws
We are committed to complying with applicable privacy laws in the jurisdictions where the App is available. If you have questions about how we comply with specific privacy laws in your jurisdiction, please contact us at support@qylit.com.
THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by us. This Privacy Policy applies only to the Flashcard Decks application. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every website or service you visit or use.
CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the App after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting a notice within the App or by other appropriate means.
